The MG82CX is a compact mixer with 8 total input channels: four mono and four stereo line inputs. Mono inputs have switchable 48V phantom power. Stereo inputs can accept either RCA or ¼" connectors. Channels 1 and 2 offer single-knob compression, a Yamaha exclusive. This feature, designed for easy use, allows inputs with very wide dynamics to be better heard. For example, with the right amount of compression, a vocal that must be whispered in quiet parts and screamed out in louder parts will be better balanced in the mix. The built-in digital effect, based on Yamaha’s award winning SPX line of processors, offers 16 reverb, delay and echo editable presets. Dual 8-segment LED meters allow visual monitoring of the main stereo outputs. A small footprint allows easy placement.
With so many on offer these days, it is great to have a name you can trust. This item is certainly that and will be a perfect buy. The distributor have added some great touches and this equals great value.

Perfect mixer for small venues, a step up from the Eurorack and Folio
I host a monthly Open Mic in Pasadena, at Jones Coffee, a small warehouse space. For the past 10 months I had been using a Behringer Eurorack mixer, which is about the same size as this one, also with 8-ins. Before that, I used a spirit folio, which is a tiny bit smaller. I connect the mixer to 2 Behringer powered speakers. Using this set up, I could handle 3 mics, a couple guitar-ins or a guitar and a keyboard.

Wish I could give it more stars
This mixer offers real value for the money. I bought five units for run-n-gun field work - mixing 2 to 4 mics - tie units together for occasional larger gigs. Fast setup, clean enough output, flexible hookup options. Very well documented with a full signal gainplan map and all tech details.
This mixer might not look like more costly ruggedized field mixers that ENG often deploys, and if you don't need to run on batteries, it's a great low-cost alternative. just pack it in a decent road bag and it will be reliable.
The input compressors and digital effects are also a nice touch of sophistication when ganging units together for larger projects.
Very well thought out system. Full respect to Yamaha on product design.
Nice mixer for the $
This is a fine mixer. So far this is a nicer mixer than either Alesis and Behringer mixers I own. Power chords on both of those have broken. This has the same
three-pin type as the alesis. The Behringer is not bad, but the power chord 3 prong plug (the end that attaches to the mixer) has tiny pins that are easily bent.
I like the effects on this mixer better than the Alesis I have. Nicer sounding. Quieter too.
I would recommend this mixer.
